Historically, peace is often memorialized by international and domestic negotiations, compromises, and diplomacy, marked by extensive legal agreements decorated with the autographs of world leaders. However, peace is not always defined by monumental events, rather, it is made of micro-moments… moments of trust, respect, empathy, and compassion.
At the end of the day, peace is much more than a treaty. Peace is about being able to see one another and recognizing that no matter what language we speak, what we look like, or where we come from, we all share more commonalities than differences. It’s celebrating those common threads that weave us all together, allowing us to understand and appreciate each other.
At Tea, we believe in peace for all little citizens of the world! As we travel, whether across the street or around the world, we keep our eyes—and our hearts—wide open. Wherever we are, wherever we go, we strive to be mindful and responsible, to make real connections—and a real difference.
We are makers. Twice a year, Tea designers pack their bags and set off to a new destination in search of inspiration. They immerse themselves in the culture and customs of foreign worlds, taking in all the sights, sounds, tastes and traditions, and seeking to make them familiar. What they come back with? A deep appreciation for the local people who preserve the country’s unique history, tell its stories, and practice its time-honored traditions.
They arrive back in our San Francisco headquarters with suitcases filled with unforgettable memories, experiences, and a genuine passion and understanding for this newfound place. Then they get to work, translating it all into globally inspired, thoughtfully-made clothing to be shared and experienced by little citizens everywhere.
Follow our talented team of designers to the rugged and remote Shetland Islands, where local artisans have been spinning and knitting virgin wools into colorful Fair Isle knits for centuries.
Furry faces are everywhere in Scotland…in fact there are more flocks of sheep than there are Scots! Away from the busy streets of urban Edinburgh, lies miles of cozy, rural countryside where hill farms are the way of life and counting sheep is near impossible. We learned a lot about Scottish farm life on our visit, and made many farmyard friends along the way. Here are a few fun facts about our favorite cuddly creatures.
While we love summer for its endless adventures, fall is undeniably one of our favorite seasons. As the leaves begin to color and crisp, we begin to crave all things cozy – the sweet smell of freshly baked bread in the morning, a brim-filled mug of piping hot cider, soft and toasty socks to keep chilly toesies happy, and lots of layers! See our style recommends for staying warm this season.
As summer comes to a close, and fall begins to breathe a sigh of cool relief, we leave behind the hustle and bustle of Glasgow and head for quieter, cozy pastures. From windswept highland farms to the far-flung isles of the Outer Hebrides, to the northernmost Shetland Islands, our newest styles draw inspiration from Scotland’s rural (coastal and countryside) regions.
