Behind the Scenes: Soccer on Set

tea collection soccer

From on location to on set in the studio, soccer balls were by far the most popular prop we had for this fall’s photo shoot. Soccer (or fútbol rather) is the number one sport in South America, so we knew the sport needed to be incorporated into our shoot one way or another. The kids were thrilled when they learned they’d be running around playing soccer all day and we had to catch the pure joy in a candid fashion…

Get Design Tips From Emily

After many years of traveling the world, Tea co-founder and Chief Creative Officer, Emily Meyer, has acquired an eye for worldly design. Her Palo Alto home, which she shares with her husband, Hilton and two children, Clement (6) and Georgia (4) is living proof! In their April issue, Family Circle featured Emily and her family in their eclectic space – Don’t miss her design tips!

With each trip Emily takes, whether it’s scouting inspiration for the next Tea season or visiting family abroad, she makes sure to find bazaars to search for treasures to bring back home. “I love pulling a design scheme together with exotic objects and textiles.” says Emily. Their home, built in 1908, has been transformed with a bold palatte, peppered with well-traveled finds – a Turkish Ikat pillow, a Mailan coverlet.

Styling Tips for Crazy Legs

Tea Collection Mandala

Our new printed leggings deserved a full spread in our first spring catalog. We decided to really play up the colorful chaos of India for this shot… the final result? A legging mandala! Metallic tattoos, tasseled bracelets, beaded anklets, pom-poms and chalk dusted feet all played a part in making this happen. Here’s how you can get the look…

Our Trip Down the German Alps

At Tea, we believe in a healthy sense of adventure – the kind that gets you up and out and exploring. So when we visited Germany, of course we had to hit the slopes! We strapped on skis in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, a Bavarian town just north of Zugapitze, Germany’s highest mountain.

We discovered so much that inspired our winter collection: the sporty style of German skiers and snowboarders, vintage ski posters and the towering snow-covered Alps themselves! Here are a few of our favorite photos from our day on the slopes. Have you ever skied the German Alps?German Alps German Alps German Alps German Alps

Noah the Dromedary

Noah is a 17-year-old dromedary who played a big (literally, big!) part in our catalog shoot. Often called one-humped camels, dromedaries – or Arabian camels, are most commonly found in Northern Africa. Both male and female dromedaries stand over 6 feet tall and live to be about 45 years old weighing up to 1,322 pounds (600 kg). They eat all types of leafy plants – even the thorny ones! Their hump stores about 80 lbs of fat, which gets broken down into water and energy when food and water are limited. Dromedaries have a very fast rate of rehydration, drinking up to 5 gallons of water per minute! Fun facts:

  • Dromedary camels are much more common than two hump Bactrian camels.
  • Baby camels are born without a hump.
  • Dromedaries can close their nostrils to prevent sand from entering inside their nose during dust storms.

Behind the Scenes: Swim Shoot

We love taking you behind the scenes! It’s always fun to remember that this…

turned out to look like this!

We’re so proud of our swim collection and shooting it on the beach was a blast. Lots of hard work goes into each image before you see it in the catalog and on, but we made sure to have some fun while we were there!

Have you checked out our swim collection? The trunks are bright and the bikinis are bold – your little citizen will be sure to stand out this summer!
