Each month, we’ll be sharing a guest post by Andrea Fellman of Wanderlust Living, Andrea’s set out to interview global moms + dads who are very “Tea” – they look for adventure in their lives and strive to make the foreign familiar for their families through travel and curiosity! A long time Tea partner and a woman who truly embodies the Tea spirit, we’re thrilled to have Andrea as a foreign correspondent (she lives in Barcelona!). In Andrea’s third guest post, we’re introducing you to Wendy, who lives with her family in Oahu, Hawaii. Read on to learn more!
During their time together in Australia, our #teapenpals, Lu and Lara visited the Healesville Animal Sanctuary in Victoria, Australia. The sanctuary is a working health center for injured native Australian animals, a rehabilitation facility for those on the mend and a research center for conservation medicine. They offer many hands-on exhibits including observation bays where visitors can watch the vets at work as well as interactive exhibits for visitors to get an up close look at tons of native animals like parrots, dingos, pygmy-possoms, bilbies and more.
Lu and Lara spent a full day here, exploring, learning and playing vet. Here, we’re sharing a video from their time at the Future Vet station – a play space dedicated to inspiring kindness in kids through caring for animals in a mini wildlife hospital! They got to take x-rays of stuffed koalas and wombats, diagnose injuries and even bandage the little dingos up. How cool!?
As we travel, both around the world and across the street, we keep our eyes—and our hearts—wide open. We know there is more to every culture than beloved landmarks and beautiful handicrafts. So wherever we are, we strive to be mindful and responsible. With our newest collection, we’re celebrating the beauty and culture of vast and vibrant Australia. From the diverse ecosystems of the outback and coastal towns to the grand architecture and art found in its cities, Australia offers so much to explore. This season, we’ve partnered with Nat Geo Kids to inspire little citizens to care about (and for) our planet and its creatures. Check back on our site each month to learn more about the fascinating wildlife and terrain of Australia – we’ll be sharing lots of new fun facts and downloadable activities to print and try at home.
Australia is a land of diverse ecosystems. From animals to plants, climates to landscapes… As you travel through the vast country, it’s very possible that you’ll come across things you can’t find anywhere else.
Stretching 151 miles along Australia’s South-Eastern coast, the Great Ocean Road is the country’s most treasured coastal route. Home to small seaside towns, world class surf breaks and fern gully forests, this two-lane road takes travelers on a scenic journey. On their intrepid two week journey throughout Australia, our design team made the drive through the Great Ocean Road, stopping along the way to take in the sights, meet some locals and shop, of course! Come along on a journey as we share a slideshow of photos from their trip.
Did you know, Australia has more than 378 kinds of mammals, 828 types of birds, 4,000 species of fish, 300 kinds of lizards, 140 types of snakes, 2 crocodile species and around 50 types of marine mammals? That’s a lot of animals. Being the animal lovers we are, Australia has opened our eyes to so many animals we had only dreamed of before. Our designers spent two weeks traveling the vast Australia landscape. And they were lucky to meet quite a few furry creatures. Meet our new friend Pepper, the koala and see lots of other animals we found in Australia.
At Tea, we make clothes. But we also design websites, look at financial statements, write emails, produce photo shoots, work over the phone with our factories all over the world, negotiate with our warehouse to make sure packages get shipped on time, travel the world for inspiration, draw, cut, sew, glue and strive to make learning about different cultures FUN for children.
Each season, we create a box insert that includes exciting new activities you can do at home with your little citizens. We’re really excited about our activity book for Australia and wanted to share it with you. Here, you can download, print out and share these activities with your family.
