To help everyone at Tea “go there,” we make a yearly contribution to each employee for international travel and exploration. Upon their return, our Tea travelers write a blog post to share their adventures with all of us (and the world)! We’re so excited to introduce you to LaDonna, our Copy Director (she writes all the beautiful words you read in our catalog, online and in emails) and all-around amazing human being. Follow along as she shares tales from her families trip to Australia!
Take the ferry 45 minutes out to sea from Cairns, Australia, and you’ll find yourself on the tiny island of Fitzroy, a lush rainforest oasis surrounded by white coral beaches and brilliant blue waters that are part of the Great Barrier Reef. It was on this unspoiled tropical island that Tea and the King family join forces with National Geographic Explorer Jess Cramp. Jess flew in from her home base in the Cook Islands to explore the rainforest, snorkel the reef, and show us how to be scientists.
We want to give kids the world, to help them discover that no matter where we live or what language we speak, there is so much we all have in common. As we travel, both around the world and in our own town, we keep our eyes—and our hearts—wide open. This season, we traveled to Australia, a wild and wonderful country filled with incredible people and natural beauty. We explored the land, from the cities to the vast outback. We observed animals in their natural habitat, walked through some of the oldest rainforests on the Earth and had a chance to view the magnificent Great Barrier Reef. We also had a chance to meet Jess Cramp, National Geographic Explorer and conservationist. She helped us learn the importance of guiding children to care about the Earth and their environment.
Here at Tea, we strive to inspire curiosity in all little citizens around the world. We want to help kids be open-minded, adventurous and kind. That’s why, we’re always connecting with people we meet, in person and online. This spring, we had a chance to connect with the Paddock family. Here, Elizabeth Paddock answers some of our questions on her family’s adventures in unschooling.
Over years of traveling across the world, we’ve been able to taste many different cuisines. Food is always important to the culture and history of a destination. Today, we’re sharing a recipe from France, from our friend Carine Rosalia, a French-American mother and Tea customer. Here, Carine shares her recipe (and photos of her daughter in Tea!) with us. Enjoy!
Over the past few months, you’ve met some of our newest friends from Australia and Austin. We love introducing them to you and today, we’re sharing profiles of the kids from our summer Austin photo shoot. All of the kids we met, in Australia and Austin, were funny, sweet and completely unique. We loved getting to know them, and thought you’d enjoy it too. So we asked everyone a few fun questions about sharks, seafood and what they want to be when they grow up. Here are their answers … with a little help from mom and dad. Without further ado, meet our Austin friends!
Cool new graphics are a thing here at Tea. Each season, our designers work tirelessly to bring you beautifully (often hand-drawn) designs that emanate the feeling of our destination. This season with Australia, you’ve seen some amazing graphics. Everything from animals and flowers to sport and transportation. With our new summer styles, we’re very excited about our Lorikeet Skirted Dress. This dress features hand painted prints of wild parrots, cockatoos and lorikeets (all birds!) that call Australia their home. Here’s a look at these birds, in real life!
