If you’re an avid Studio T reader, you’re probably aware that our Tea designers draw inspiration for our prints and graphics from a myriad of sources, art and nature being a very popular one. In Italy, we found inspiration everywhere; in familiar places like museums and architecture but also in some new places, too.
This season, Tea is partnering with The Global Fund for Children to give back to several organizations around the world. This month, we’re featuring SAKALA in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Learn more about this wonderful organization below.
What do two (supervised!) kids do when they find themselves in one of the oldest cities in the world? Adam (9) and Matthew (7) took to the streets of Rome to explore sites like the Roman Forumn, the beautifully painted ceilings of the Vatican and even rode on the back of vespas through the cobblestone alleys—with much needed gelato and pizza breaks… because how could you not? While soaking in all of the newness of the big city, these brothers put their differences aside and traveled as friends. They giggled, shared jokes and even learned a few necessary Italian phrases like, Dov’è il bagno(where is the bathroom?). Follow these little citizens as they discover and explore.
This spring, our distinctive prints and unique color palette pay homage to modern Italian art and design. Bold, beautiful and endlessly wearable, these colors bring life to every outfit. One of our favorite prints this spring are the stripes on our Ceramica Almafi dress and hoodie. With it’s vibrant colors and modern stripes – these styles are sure to become quick customer favorites. Learn how a ceramic vase became the inspiration for the design of our Ceramica Almafi dress and hoodie.
The traditional craft of South American weaving has been passed down through generations of descendants. Today, the tradition lives on throughout Argentina and Bolivia… and the world! During our travels, we’ve seen hand-woven pieces in many countries. Our designers right here in San Francisco even do it as a hobby. Want to know how you can make these in your home? Follow our steps below to create your own hand-woven piece of art, DIY gift toppers and ornaments, just in time for the holidays!
Each season, our in house artists create unique graphics for tees. They paint, sketch, stamp and piece together the graphics you love. We take pride in not only our design process, but in the story behind each graphic. Each destination we travel to, we work to represent a handful of native animals. We love to learn about their behavior and habitats. We know our little citizens love animals, too! Patagonia is a land rich with animals, many of them relatively unknown to our own little citizens. The animals in Patagonia and throughout South America inspired and influenced the design of our newest graphics. Read on to see the graphics up close and learn about the animals behind them.
At the very southern end of South America, spanning all of Argentina and part of Chile, lies a sparsely populated region called Patagonia. To the west you’ll find the Andes mountains and Pacific Ocean, to the east the steppes and grasslands and Atlantic Ocean. We visited Patagonia, trekked the frozen blue wonderland of the Perito Moreno Glacier and explored the wild steppe with an intrepid guide names Julian, who showed us lots of Criollo horses, wild herds of guanaco, super-fast jackrabbits and a gigantic Andean condor. Come on a journey with us as we share stories of trekking a glacier, riding in a jeep over the barren grasslands of the Patagonia steppe and finding inspiration in the smallest details.
