Bonjour! We just returned from France and we are so excited to share our inspired designs with you. We sat down with Nicole, our Art Director for Textiles & Graphics, to talk about one of our new prints from our France Collection.
The French Bulldogs Print
Q: Can you tell us a little bit about the inspiration behind this print?
When we decided to use France as our concept, we knew we wanted to include a French Bulldog in the collection.
Q: What is your process for creating inspired designs?
We travel, collect photos of the destination, and think about how we can best tell the story through prints and graphics. We think about the child and what they want to wear on their graphic tees and dresses.
Q: What colors did you use for this print, was there a reason behind the color choices?
We used a variety of blues and lilacs for this print. We knew we wanted to incorporate the iconic French Blue in the collection and add in colors that coordinated nicely.
Q: What silhouettes did you pick to feature this print and why did you choose those silhouettes?
When designing the prints we think about the silhouette and how it will look as a garment. This print was too special to not put on multiple silhouettes. You can find this print on our Wrap Neck Dress, Printed Layered Sleeve Tee, Pocket Flutter Baby Romper, and our Pocket Baby Romper.
Q: How would you style this print for boy, girl, and baby? Is there a specific occasion you would suggest others wear this print to?
This print is perfect for everyday play. I would suggest pairing our Wrap Neck Dress with our Solid Leggings in the color Morning Glory and the Printed Layered Sleeve Tee with our Timeless Stretch Twill Pants in the color Russet.
Q: Was there an artist that inspired this unique design?
France has a broad art history so we looked to all the masters for inspiration.
Q: Was this print hand-drawn by the Tea design team?
Yes! All of our artwork is hand painted and drawn by hand.
France
Q: When you were in France, did you see a lot of French Bulldogs?
Yes! We saw lots of dogs in France, especially French Bulldogs. There’s a great dog park at the Louvre where we saw lots of dogs running around and playing together.
Q: What is your number 1 tip for traveling in France?
There is so much to do in France, it’s hard to pick just 1 tip! I would have to say if you ever travel to France, take advantage of all the wonderful art and tasty food.
