For over 10 years, Corinne Hirano has infused her creativity into Tea’s prints and designs, and she loves seeing her six-year-old daughter, Lennon, wear and model her creations. We sat down with Corinne to get the inside scope on her creative process and how excited she is to see her daughter model her designs.
What is your process for creating inspired designs?
I start by pulling inspiration from travel and research. Then I will sketch/paint out my ideas and then I will turn them into a print or graphic.
What mediums do you use to create your designs?
I use pencil, gouache, watercolor and ink.
This season we are inspired by the country of Turkey. Are there any parts of the country that you found particularly interesting/inspiring?
I was really inspired by the colorful houses of Balat and the colors in a lot of the Turkish Tiles and Ceramics.
Are there any particular prints you loved making this season? What was the inspiration?
The Kitty Ditsy was a fun print to make. I was inspired by a lot of the flowers that grow throughout Turkey and of course all of the cats.
How does it feel to make a design that your daughter can wear (and now model for Tea)?
It is really special, especially working from home. She can see my process from start to finish which gets her excited when it’s time to shop for her clothes.
Does your daughter love wearing designs that you create?
She does! She also really enjoys wearing what she models.
