Summer is just around the corner and we are so excited to start traveling again! We asked our Tea employees for their best hacks to help you and your family have an adventurous, unforgettable summer. Here are 10 easy tips to help you pack, plan, and make lasting memories!
Tip 1. The More the Merrier (When it comes to bags): Always bring two bags; One to check and one carry on. Anything valuable should be in your handbag, like money, medicines, documents, charging cords and/or battery packs etc. If your luggage gets lost, you will have all your important things with you!
Tip 2. Space Case: To maximize your suitcase space so you can pack all your favorite vacation looks, try rolling your clothes. The rolled clothes will take up less space in your suitcase, plus it will reduce wrinkles when you unpack them.
Tip 3. Mix and Match Magic: When you are packing for a long vacation, you need a plethora of outfit options while still packing light. The best way to do this is by packing outfits that coordinate. Choose pieces with a limited color palette that all go together for endless outfits. We like these options from Tea: Shop Here.
Tip 4. Ship It: Ship things like diapers or similar bulky items to your destination to save space in your luggage.
Tip 5. Snack Attack: Always come prepared with lots and lots and lots of snacks! Pack a bento box with fresh items like fruit and a ziplock with packaged snacks. Every time your toddler says, “Snack!” you’ll be prepared.
Tip 6. Tape = Toy: Washi tape is a wonderfully simple “toy” to bring along. It’s colorful, easy to tear, and open ended for imaginary playtime; plus it cleans up really easily.
Tip 7. Keep Things Flexible: You may love planning out a whole itinerary, but things can change quickly with kids. When you travel with little ones, try to go with the flow. Shoot for one adventure/activity a day and keep the rest flexible to ensure fun, with fewer meltdowns.
Tip 8. Vacation Recess: Research local parks in advance that have bathrooms. Your little one can get out all their energy and use the bathroom before your planned activities.
Tip 9. Plan for Your Kid and You: You did an amazing job planning an unforgettable trip for your family, and you deserve to have fun too! It can be easy to focus on the kids but the adults have to sneak in a few fun things too.
Tip 10. Making Lasting Memories: Make sure you’ll remember the good times by bringing a pocket-sized notebook with you so I can write down some of your favorite memories. Take a short 5 – 10 minute break during your trip to reflect on the day. Journaling helps you stay present, appreciate the little things on the trip, and capture some of the memories that a picture can’t capture. Plus, it will make a great souvenir!
