We are makers. Twice a year, Tea designers pack their bags and set off to a new destination in search of inspiration. They immerse themselves in the culture and customs of foreign worlds, taking in all the sights, sounds, tastes and traditions, and seeking to make them familiar. What they come back with? A deep appreciation for the local people who preserve the country’s unique history, tell its stories, and practice its time-honored traditions.
They arrive back in our San Francisco headquarters with suitcases filled with unforgettable memories, experiences, and a genuine passion and understanding for this newfound place. Then they get to work, translating it all into globally inspired, thoughtfully-made clothing to be shared and experienced by little citizens everywhere.
Follow our talented team of designers to the rugged and remote Shetland Islands, where local artisans have been spinning and knitting virgin wools into colorful Fair Isle knits for centuries.
To help everyone at Tea “go there,” we make a yearly contribution to each employee for international travel and exploration. Upon their return, our Tea travelers write a blog post to share their adventures with all of us (and the world)! We’re so excited to introduce you to Grace, our Assistant Designer for Girl. This past spring, Grace traveled to the small artisan town of Fujino, Japan where she had the unique opportunity of attending a 2-week workshop on how to sew traditional Hanten (a quilted, kimono-style jacket worn as a winter staple since Japan’s 18th-century Edo period).

At Tea, we strive to make learning about different cultures FUN for children.
Each season, we create engaging activities for you and your little citizens to do at home. We’re really excited about our new Scotland coloring activities and wanted to share them here with you so you can print them out to enjoy again and again. So grab your favorite pens, pencils, paints or markers and dive in with the whole family!
With 790 islands and 6,200 miles of coastline, the Scots seaside is a world of crashing waves, windswept shorelines and picturesque fishing villages. Surrounded by water on three sides, and home to thousands and thousands of lochs (lakes), it’s no wonder Scotland takes its fish and ships seriously. For hundreds of years, local lads set out to sea in search of a catch, in hopes of returning home with a hold full of “silver darlings”, as herring—a fish of legend and song—were called.
Here at Tea, we want to give kids the world, to help them discover that no matter where we live or what our families look like, there is so much we all have in common. We travel to discover. To dream. To explore the wonder of the world around us, across the globe and across the street. Since 2002, we’ve traveled to far flung places, always inspired by the people we meet and the things we see. Wherever we go, from Bali to Norway, Morocco to Japan, we take in all we can and bring it back to our headquarters here in San Francisco to design globally-inspired clothing for all little citizens.
